LOOT POLICY
Updated 06/29/2009

LOOT RULES (5-MAN, 10-MAN)
1.) Rules for 5-man and 10-man instances are not specified by Unknown Entity, regardless of whether all raiders are from UE or not. It is advisable, however, that all participants understand and agree as to how loot will be distributed.

LOOT RULES (25-MAN)
The goal of the our loot distribution system is to make sure those that contribute the most get the most or a higher priority of access to gear, while making sure loot is fairly distributed amongst all raiders. UE uses a hybrid dkp/loot council system to do this.

1) Earned DKP
     A) 2 DKP Totally farmed bosses
     B) 3 DKP Regularly downed bosses but that still require a wipe or two
     C) 6 DKP Bosses we just downed for the first time within the last few weeks or that we still struggle a lot on.
     D) 9 DKP plus 1 DKP per wipe above 3 wipes for Progression Wipe Fests.
     E) 2 DKP will be given to those who sign up and show up on time.

DKP will be updated by the earned amount after a raid is finished. Rate of earnings may be changed by the leadership in the future, and notice will be given with a forum posting.

2) Decay
All DKP, both spent and earned, will decay. Decay will start 4 weeks after the date it was earned/spent and will take 8 weeks to be zeroed out. It will do so in a linear fashion, losing 1/56 of its original value per day during the decay period.

3) Priority Bidding
     !bid 4 main spec upgrade
     !bid 3 reserved for dual roll characters (ie. Tank/DPS). To use this bid you need specific authorization well in advance of any raid.
     !bid 2 off-spec bid
     !bid 1 theoretically useful (will probably mostly sit in the bank)

A given drop will go to the highest priority bid. Ties in priority will be broken by current dkp value. The winner will pay a fixed amount of dkp for the item won.

4) Discounted pricing on gear
DKP prices for drops are fixed. However, at the discretion of the leadership, the price may be lowered by a predetermined amount. This is primarily done to encourage off-spec/alt gearing that may have some future utility to the raid, as is represented by #2 or #3 priority bids. The DKP Price Check will give you the best idea of what prices to expect. Discounts on #1 priority bids will be subject to whether the item is for a main spec or an off-spec/alt. As said above, discounts are not automatic - if you think you should have gotten one, and did not, please ask for one via a private post to all officers. Make sure to clearly and in detail explain why you should be given the discount.

5) Mis-looted Items
In cases where a master-looted item is given to the wrong person, the person who wrongly received the item must send a GM petition in game explaining that they received the item wrongly, and who it must go to. This is per Blizzard's rules.

6) BoE Items
In the event no bids are received on a BoE item, it will be placed in the guild bank, and may be requested using normal procedures.

7) Legendary Items
Due to their rarity and utility, these will be assigned by loot council, and not subject to dkp. In most cases, a list of desired recipients will be crafted beforehand by the leadership; however, should an unexpected drop occur, or if no listed recipients are present, order will be determined by the leadership on hand at the time. Key items (such as the Heroic Key to the Focusing IrisRefresh This Item) will also be subject to this rule until such time as leadership feels the chance of a key not being on hand is sufficiently remote.

8) Crafting Goods
All goods gathered by whatever profession (herbalism, mining, skinning, engineering, enchanting or other) during a raid will go to the guild bank, as will all non-gathered crafting goods (such as Runed Orbs). One or more official gatherers will be designated at the beginning of the raid (at the desire of the raid leader, some positions may be set on a more or less permanent basis); should other raid members perform any gathering, they are to turn over all materials to one of these people. Once in the guild bank, they may be requested using normal procedures.

9) Crafting Recipes
Crafting recipes will first go to designated guild crafters. Should additional copies of a given recipe drop, these will be rolled on by any sufficiently skilled crafters on hand. Any further recipes will go to the guild bank.

10) Changes to the DKP system
Any modifications to the DKP system will be posted in the Guild Discussion channel on the website. This post will contain the nature of the change, how it affects current raiders, and the reason for the change. At least one week after the post is made, the changes will take effect. Before any changes are communicated, the leadership debates the merits of the changes. In that debate, a great deal of thought goes into how loot is distributed and how DKP points are awarded, spent, and decayed. In those rare cases when the DKP system is changed, the balance between the fairness to each raider and the overall needs of the progression raid are considered in detail.

EXCEPTIONS
1.) In cases where the raid is not made up of at least 70% raiders from UE, alternate rules can be set forth and announced by the raid leader as appropriate. The 70% is a general guideline, not a requirement. Numbers close to it can be judged as an exception at the Raid Leader's discretion.

Suggested 70% values (rounding up):

* 10-Mans: At least 7 UE members
* 25-Mans: At least 18 UE members
* 40-Mans: At least 28 UE members

2.) In extremely rare cases, the leadership may declare a given item to be a primary piece for a certain class/spec, and give priority to that class/spec in the event of tying #4 bids. This is to handle cases where a given piece of gear has much higher raid utility when in the hands of a certain class/spec than in the hands of others.
