So, Brook and I will be moving out to the boondocks at the end of this month.
We will not have access to cable internet. I have heard some good and bad about satellite internet. I know many of you guys have looked into many of the options. What are you guys opinions about the different satellite companies, Is there a better option out there that can handle WoW and raiding?

I can't believe I stooped to join a group that would have such low standards that they would invite me to join it!
I have a friend that does tech support for somekind of wireless high speed access. Too bad its only in colorado but they do specialize in getting access to those in the country and rural areas. There might be something similar out there.
I am hear to tell you that the satellite internet is the worst thing on the face of the earth. I am sad to say your ping (latency) will be 800 and up. I have used my Verizon cell phone when my DSL went out and it worked well, if you can get EVDO, but 1x is like dial up or just faster. Every option you have has a cap 5 Gig as little as that is, hell a windows or wow update and you are close to done. If you go with the cell phone idea the MIFI personal router looks cool, I have a Verizon touch pro that I have hacked to make it a wireless router and it works well, but the battery will get hot and stop charging, if you start slamming the network. Sounds a little redneck but if I get into it I will put an cold pack to make it cooler and continue charging. :-) Not sure where you are moving to, but look into WWW.DSLreports.com there may be some reviews or other options out there for you.
You can ask Norik I have dealing with Slow internet for a long time and have fought hard for the DSL I have now.
Allmo and I spent a year living in the boondocks on Satellite internet. We didn't play WoW much that year. The throughput is pretty good, but the latency is terrible. 800-1k+ ALL the time. The signal just has a much much longer path to go, since it has to go up first, then back to a earth, THEN it goes through the same path it would have were it a cable or DSL (well, abstractly). Very irritating for us when we discovered this.
Zen and I had satellite Internet. At the time, I was playing Everquest. Ping time was crazy high. Also, there was a fair use plan (FUP) that limited your total data traffic. The up front capital cost was around $600. It could be paid in 12 monthly payments or you could paid it lump sum. In conclusion, it was expensive and it sucked.

Take care of yourself. You can't help out if you're dead
Yes the "Fair Access Policy" is not Fair at all since you cannot down load much at all. I wish BPL would have taken off, I think the broad band over the power lines would reach about anyone if the power company would invest some capital.
